Technology is creating a new digital economy full of new economic opportunities. However, for too many people, these opportunities are simply out of reach. Addressing this issue involves changing the way we educate our children, changing the way we train our workers, and preparing our communities for success in this new environment. These changes will impact every person and every organization on the planet, and we believe that corporations like Microsoft have an opportunity and an obligation to make sure the future we’re building is for everyone. 

Microsoft Philanthropies helps bring to life the company’s mission with technology, skills and a focus on employability to drive sustainable social impact and economic opportunity for all. Skills and Employability program, aims to reach underserved communities with 21st century skills and jobs, by building partnerships with nonprofits and collaborating with government entities and other organizations from the private sector. The major goals of the program is to empower individuals to become life-long learners through access to high-quality, equitable digital skills training and certification and also engage employers to support the skilling of individuals and create pathways to in-demand jobs. In order to achieve that, Microsoft collaborates with service providers (educators, trainers, and youth development workers) to increase the capacity of systems to develop and grow in-demand, equitable, high-quality computer science and in-demand skills training programs.
