As we enter the third year of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the challenges in its implementation remain significant, and the early assessment of its impact on Greek and European agriculture sparks debates.

The 11th Congress on the Development of Greek Agriculture, organized by GAIA EPICHEIREIN, will seek to shed light on the different aspects and perspectives of the CAP, emphasizing the positive challenges of synergy between key agricultural economy stakeholders and technology.

The Congress will take place in Thessaloniki on May 22-23, 2025, highlighting the role of agricultural cooperatives, producer groups, and agricultural advisors in leveraging innovation for the sustainable development of the primary sector, as well as the opportunities arising from this collaboration in strengthening the position of Greek farmers.

The 11th edition of the Congress comes at a time when strengthening cooperation between technology and traditional structures of the agricultural sector is more urgent than ever. The goal is to highlight innovative solutions that enhance the resilience of Greek agriculture, reduce production costs, and promote the green and digital transition.

Through its thematic sessions, policymakers, business leaders, experts from Greece and the European Union, and agricultural professionals will discuss ways to strengthen collaborations between cooperatives, producers, and agricultural advisors, leveraging advanced technologies such as precision agriculture, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital crop management applications.

Special emphasis will be placed on the importance of education and advisory support for the successful adoption of technology, as well as on the formulation of policies that encourage collaboration and innovation in the agricultural sector.

A dedicated session will present a study conducted by the Center for European Legal Culture (KENoP) of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), which, for the first time, examines the long-term institutional and legal challenges of implementing the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in Greece.

The 11th Congress on the Development of Greek Agriculture is supported by the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission, as part of the COOPinCAP project for CAP-related information actions, and takes place under the auspices of the Region of Central Macedonia.
