The American Hellenic Chamber of Commerce is pleased to invite you to a digital roundtable discussion on "The energy oil crisis: Impacts on the Greek and global economy - Opportunities" to be held Monday, June 29, 2020 at 17.00-18.30 hours (EEST).
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused, over the past few months, one of the biggest threats to global economy and an unprecedented global economic crisis. The pandemic has pushed the global economy into a recession and hence the economy has already shrunk. The Covid-19 has significantly affected, in one way or another, all aspects of life, whether individuals or even states, from health, economy, entrepreneurship, employment and education to diplomatic and geopolitical relations, including the energy sector. The outbreak has contributed to a dampened demand for oil, resulting in plummeting prices and declining production with the potential to cause disruptions well beyond the energy sector. At the same time, recent data shape a new environment regarding research and exploitation of energy reserves and hence the crisis offers an opportunity to consider a new global energy order to enable the energy transition in a sustainable way.
All of this as well as estimates of the oil market recovery will be discussed by a group of experts, academics and representatives from the business community.
