In the context of the fundraising event '12 hours for Greece',
EllinikoTheatro warmly invite you to take part in the marathon reading of THE REPUBLIC which will take place on May 9th from 10am to 6pm at the Cultural Centre 'Halles de Schaerbeek' in Brussels.
The objective of the event is twofold:
- To send a powerful cultural message from the heart of the EU presenting projects and ideas that have emerged in Greece in the context of the crisis, focusing on one of the main gifts that Greece has delivered to Europe and the world, namely democracy.
THE REPUBLIC reminds us of the rights but also the responsibilities citizens have, while the participatory reading promulgates the collective effort required in order to protect our shared European cultural identity.
- To raise funds for the Greek section of Médecins sans Frontières; Make-a-Wish Greece as well as the Greek Society for Disabled Children (ELEPAP).
200 readers of all ages and backgrounds including EU officials, Diplomats, Journalists, Artists, students and children will gather to read THE REPUBLIC, one after the other, in the languages of Europe, expressing their solidarity to the Greek people through the diachronic and transnational verses of Plato's great text.
In order to be part of this cultural endeavour, choose your time slot below, complete the registration process and you will receive an electronic ticket for the event in your inbox.Detailed instructions and specific passages will be sent to participants by April 30th.
Entrance to the marathon reading is free of charge but we kindly ask for all participants to make a donation, big or small, to support the humanitarian cause of this event, and help give back the smile to disadvantaged children in Greece.
